What is Poutine?
Phenomenal.
But really, poutine is french fries, cheese curds and gravy.
A Brief History of Poutine
Poutine (pronounced putsin) is a meal of french fries, cheese curds, and gravy. It was created in the Centre-du-Québec region of Québec.
Let's be honest for a long time poutine wasn't viewed as cool. It was used as a way to make fun of its home region in Québec and later the entire province. Through her shear greatness poutine has rallied to become a symbol of the Québécois culture.
That said, poutine is younger than many Baby Boomers! It was originally created in the late 1950's and didn't go mainstream in Canada until the 1990s.
So when Americans were jamming out to Bel Biv Devoe and the New Kids On The Block, English Canada was discovering a tremendous Québécois creation.
As poutine gains popularity here in the States we're here to help! We’ll make sure she gets a proper introduction to the larger US market.
